KnitWitz classes require advance registration and payment of the class fee, which you can do through the website by scrolling to the bottom of this page. For individual attention, class sizes are limited and class fees are nonrefundable.
A surcharge of $5 will be added to class fees for registration on the day of the class, if space permits. Materials fees vary depending on yarn choices.
BEGINNING KNITTING - Lessons are available by appointment, with individual instruction, although small groups are welcome. These sessions are 2 hours in length and $25 per person. Please call the shop to schedule your class!
BEGINNING CROCHET – Learn the basics of crochet in this class, including how to make a chain and build the basic stitches – single, double, and treble crochet – upon it. Use crochet to supplement your knitting skills. This class is designed for the very beginner! This class is 2 hours in length and $35 per person. By appointment, just call the shop to schedule your class.

EVENTS
Knit-Ins! Just come in, no reservation required, no fee... laughter is a requirement, however... well, most of the time. The groups are great fun and welcome newcomers. Knit-Ins are held each Wednesday and Friday evening, from 5-8 pm.
MIDNIGHT KNIT-IN - Can't make the Buffet concert? Come to KnitWitz instead! The next Midnight Knit is Saturday, February 20, from 5 to midnight. Dinner and dessert are provided! There is a cover fee of $10 to attend. Meet your fellow local knitters, crocheters, and spinners, and have a great time with new friends!
CLASS LIST
FELTING CLUB – Join us for this very casual club, meeting to explore different felting techniques with fiber and embellishments. Or just drop by to observe. Be warned, felting is habit forming! Call the shop for more information on materials. Dates & Times: Saturday, February 20, all day.
SOCK CLINIC – Learn how to sock your needles, the traditional way with double point needles, the magic loop way, or the two circular needle method. Toe up or top down, one or two at a time. You choose the method you'd like to learn, and choose two of the dates on which to learn it! This flexible, two-part class covers the basics of how to make socks - YOUR WAY. Class Fee: $35, includes pattern. This Saturday class will be held on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month, from 10:30am-12:30pm.
SWEATER WORKSHOP SWEATER! - For those who've taken the Sweater Workshop, or who want to learn how to knit a sweater that fits, top-down, with no sewing. Put the skills you've learned to work in this six-part Saturday class. Sweater Workshop is not a pre-requisite for this class, but does help. Class Fee: $115, includes 15% credit for yarn and book (“The Sweater Workshop”) bought for class. Dates & Times: Every other Saturday, starting February 27th, from 10:30am-12:30pm.
Victorian Pleated Mitts – Knit a pair of fingerless mittens in this two-part class. Learn the cable cast on, box pleats, and increases using a long circular needle (“Magic Loop” method). Class Fee: $35. Dates & times: Part 1 is Saturday, March 6, from 10:30-12:30pm; Part 2 is Saturday, March 20, from 10:30am-12:30pm.
MOEBIUS Cast On - This is a repeat of our popular mathematical Moebius class. Class fee: $55 includes the Addi needle. If you'd like to take this class, please register in advance so we'll be sure to have the appropriate size needle for your project! Date & Time: Saturday, March 20, from 1:30am-4:30pm.
FIX MY KNITTING! - Tame your stitches into submission with what you'll learn in this class. You'll never have to worry about *what to do* when faced with a knitting crisis. Learn how to identify mistakes and fix them with confidence. There is pre-work for this class. Class fee: $25. Dates & Times: Saturday, April 3, from 10:30am-12:30pm.
SPINNING CLASSES!
Join us for this brand-new series of spinning classes. If you have a wheel, or are thinking of getting your feet wet with a spindle, these are the classes for you - gently taught, from an expert.
BEGINNING SPINNING - This class will cover the basics of hand spinning: cards, combs, skeining, basic plying, spinning wheel operation and maintenance in two 3-hour sessions. Various sheep breeds will be discussed as well as spinning vocabulary. Bring your own wheel, if it is in good working order, so you can learn on it or you can borrow one during the class and at Knitwitz, bobbins for your wheel, notebook, pencil and if you have them cards, combs, flick carder, niddy noddy, and nostepinne. Class fee: $105, which includes a materials fee of $8. This two-part Saturday class will be held on March 6 and March 20, from 1-4pm; --or—April 3 and April 17, from 1-4pm.
BEGINNING DROP SPINDLING - Learn to use the drop spindle. Drop spindles have been around longer than spinning wheels, are portable and there are still places in the world where the spindle is the only tool used to make yarn. Learn about spindling on different types of spindles, skeining and ball winding. Bring notebook, pencil, and if you have them cards, combs, flick carder, niddy noddy, and nostepinne. Class fee: $70, which includes a materials fee of $22 (includes fibers, Greensleeves Spindles maple spindle, and handouts). This Saturday class will be held on Saturday, March 27, from 1-4pm; --or--Thursday, April 1, from 11:30 pm-2:30pm.
SPINNING EXOTIC FIBERS – Either on spindle or wheel, including silk, alpaca, and others. Please call shop for more information. Class Fee: $80, includes fibers. Dates & Times: Saturday, April 24, from 1-4pm.
